HERE'S OUR PLAN FOR KEEPING YOU SAFE:


  • All service will be table side OR you can make use of our to-go window for packaged beer.
  • Guests will be seated upon arrival. No one will be allowed inside the brewery building. Merchandise and glassware can still be viewed at our outside display and purchased at our take-out window.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in multiple stations around the premises.
  • Tables and other touch points will be cleaned well between each use.

About Us

A Family Owned Business

Monhegan Brewing Company is a family owned and operated small brewery.  Owned by Matt and Mary Weber, year-round residents of Monhegan Island, and also Mary's father, Danny McGovern.  

Danny began his brewing career in 1992 when he opened Lake St. George Brewing Company.  He went on to brew at other midcoast Maine breweries for the last 25 years prior to taking the plunge into brewery ownership again.  A respected member of the Maine brewing community, Danny takes pride in having passed on the craft to his daughter and son-in-law, and manages a trip to the island regularly to check in. That is, when he's not hard at work at Lake St. George Brewing Company, his latest project and a reincarnation of the original.


Mary and Matt work together, April to November, brewing beers that they love to drink. They split the tasks of owning and operating Monhegan Brewing Company alongside a stellar crew of tap room staff, who contribute immensely to the MBC experience.


In the off-season, when the brewery is closed, Matt is a lobsterman, an avid snowmobiler, and now a published author. Both Matt and Mary enjoy time in the winter to ski and travel.
